By using a multi-wheel design, the UpCart® City is able to “walk” over obstacles such as sidewalk curbs, stairs and uneven surfaces. As any wheel encounters an obstacle, the other wheels rotate forward over the obstacle, while the stopped wheel continues to support the load. This approach has several distinct advantages over the traditional single-wheel approach:

• It is able to pivot to a different wheel and keep moving where a single wheel cart would get stuck.
• UpCart City has two wheels on each side in contact with the ground (total of 4 wheels), with the load centered between them to improve stability and balance.
• The multi-wheel design reduces the amount of effort required when moving up and down stairs and irregular terrain.

We first tried to launch our company via Kickstarter back in 2014. While our campaign did not fund, we found an angel investor and learned an amazing amount through the process. With the help of our angel investor, we brought our first product, the UpCart® Original, from idea to reality. Since then, we have successfully released the UpCart® Original and a number of additional products. And while we will always have a fond place in our hearts for the UpCart® Original, it is important to us that we listen to our customers.

UpCart® City is a result of feedback from our amazing customers. You spoke, we listened. The UpCart® City has many of the same great features as its bigger brother, but was designed to be the most compact and portable all-terrain stair climber. Weighing in at only 8 lbs, the UpCart® City is several inches narrower to make navigating tight spaces easier. However, the 14-inch platform is strong and can support up to 77lbs on stairs. The wheels are 100% behind the frame, allowing for better balancing of your cargo and for very wide objects (wider than the platform) to be placed on the cart.

Our customers asked for a smaller, lighter, less expensive sibling to the UpCart® Original for lighter-duty daily use. We are extremely proud to be able to offer the UpCart® City.

TriFold was co-founded by two very unlikely business partners. Leonid Khodor, the inventor, is an engineer and patent agent who is a long-time friend of the family of Michael Reznik, a Management and Operational Excellence consultant. The two connected at Michael’s father’s birthday party and aligned on a vision for changing the future of mobility.

The UpCart® line was officially launched at the 2015 NHRA National Hardware Show to remarkable success. The UpCart® was awarded the “Most Innovative Concept” award at the show. Michael was invited to pitch a panel of buyers from QVC. The UpCart was selected to be featured live on QVC. The UpCart sold out within 5 min of being on-air.

The UpCart has continued to grow in popularity ever since. In addition to going viral on Facebook in Late 2015, the UpCart returned to the NHRA National Hardware show in 2016 to win the “Retailer’s Choice” award. The UpCart Original continues to sell well through a variety of channels and is now available in 15 countries.
